- EVELYN C. RIDGEWAY, LACONA, DIES AT AGE 83

Evelyn C. Ridgeway, 83, Lacona, Route 2, died Wednesday in Oswego Hospital, after becoming ill in Williamstown.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Summerville Funeral Home, 8192 Harrwood Drive, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Lorraine Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Wesleyan Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Members of Rebekah Lodge will meet at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Northern Oswego County Ambulance.
Surviving are her husband, James H.; a son, Donald, Lacona; a daughter, Alta Shirley, Lacona; five grandsons; five great-grandsons and a sister, Erma Yerdon, Sandy Creek.
A son, Ronald, died as an infant. A brother and three sisters died before her.
Born in Lacona on Aug. 27, 1910, a daughter of Foster and Alta Crandall Mead, she attended Stevens District Schools, Sandy Creek. She married James H. Ridgeway on Dec. 29, 1929, at the Congregational Church parsonage, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Thomas Davies officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Ridgeway owned and operated a dairy farm on the Lacona-Orwell Road until their retirement in 1975.
Mrs. Ridgeway attended the United Methodist Church, Sandy Creek, and was a 60-year member of Sandy Creek Grange 127. She was a 48-year member and past noble grand of Mistletoe Rebekah Lodge 248 and past district deputy president of Oswego County District 2 of Rebekahs. She also held several offices with the Past Noble Grands Association.
