      Christal A. Ashby, age 64, of Millbury, MA,formerly of Redfield and Camden passed away suddenly on February 26, 2020. Christal and her twin sister Christine were born June 19,1955 to Charles (Bud) LaCelle and Mary Jolene (Cole) LaCelle of Orwell, NY. Christal was a 1973 graduate of Sandy Creek Central School. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, mother, her brother Jim (Wanda) LaCelle, her sisters Christine Ward and Becky (Sonny) Scheppard, nieces Cassie, Corinne, Lacey, Maegen, and nephews Craig, Sam, and B.J.

      She married Edwin Ashby, Sr. and the couple had two children, Shanna (John) Gilberg (Ashby) and Edwin (Sarah) Ashby Jr. Though the couple divorced, their family ties and friendship remained strong throughout her lifetime, producing many cherished memories for her children and grandchildren. She lived for her four grandchildren, Brayden Ashby, Eloise Gilberg, Oliver Gilberg and Dylan Ashby. They were her light and her joy. She was happiest when she was outdoors and spending time with family. She instilled her love of nature and family traditions in her children and grandchildren.

      Christal worked at Harden’s Furniture for over 20 years before retiring to move to Massachusetts in 2010 to help care for her grandchildren. Christal was a helper. She spent her life caring for and helping anyone and everyone around her. She was well-known and respected for her kindness and selflessness. She sprinkled joy wherever she went forming strong friendships with everyone she met. She will be remembered for her vibrancy, optimism, work ethic and love of her family and friends.

      Calling Hours will be Monday March 2, 2020 from 3-7pm at Abundant Life Community Church in Camden, NY. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday 1pm at the church. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Orwell.
