- RETIRED FARMER JAMES H. RIDGEWAY DIES AT 90

James H. Ridgeway, 90, of 4196 County Route 22, died Monday at Samaritan-Keep Home, Watertown, where he had been a resident since Nov. 19.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Lorraine Zimmermann, pastor of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Wesleyan Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Northern Oswego County Ambulance or Lacona Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Alta) Shirley, and a son, Donald J., both of Lacona; a sister, Avis Branche, Punta Gorde, Fla.; five grandsons and six great-grandsons.
A son, Ronald, died in infancy. Three sisters, Mabel and Maebelle Ridgeway, and Olive Hammond; three brothers, Newell, Leon and Myron, and a half brother, Clifford Zufelt, died previously.
Born April 13, 1905, in the town of Boylston, son of Myron and Olive James Ridgeway, he was educated in the Hemlock School District, town of Boylston, and married Evelyn C. Mead on Dec. 29, 1929, at the Sandy Creek Congregational parsonage with the Rev. Thomas Davies officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Ridgeway owned and operated a farm on the Lacona-Orwell Road from 1937 until retiring in 1975. Mrs. Ridgeway died Sept. 22, 1993.
He was a Lacona Agway committee man, a 60-year member of Sandy Creek Grange 127, a member of Eastern Milk Producers Association and a charter member of NE-OS CO Horseshoe Club.
