Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 1, 1993 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Harry C. Elkin, Retired Dairy Farmer, Dies - Harry C. Elkin, 78, of County Route 48, died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Ivan Greenfield officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Oswego County Hospice in care of the H.D. Barclay Courthouse, Pulaski. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Bruce J., Sandy Creek, and Brian A., Lacona; a daughter, Carol Moyer, Sandy Creek; two sisters, Anna Mae Walker, Brandywine, Maryland, and Marion Kenway, Orwell; five grandsons and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Earl, died before him. Born March 20, 1915, in the town of Orwell, son of Don and Gertrude Clement Elkin, he was a 1933 graduate of Sandy Creek High School and married Dorothy Burdick May 22, 1937, in Pulaski at the home of the bride's parents. He retired in 1975 after 30 years as a dairy farmer. He was also a zoning code enforcement officer for the town of Sandy Creek for the past 10 years. Mr. Elkin was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Russell Tryon American Legion Post 1435, Altmar, the Sandy Creek Grange, the Mad River Club, the Tamarack Club and the Deer Walking Club, Newfield. He was also a member of several bowling leagues in Pulaski.
