    • Newspaper Obituary - Monday, August 17, 1942 Press and Sun-Bulletin - Binghampton, New York - RAILROAD FIREMAN DIES AS RESULT OF ENGINE BLAST BURNS - Binghampton Press Bureau Oneonta, Aug. 17 - John A. Spaulding, 37, of 166 Chestnut Street, fireman of the D & H. locomotive which exploded Friday morning at Maryland, died Saturday at 6:40 p.m. at Fox Memorial Hospital of second and third degree burns. Services for Mr. Spaulding will be tomorrow morning at 8:45 at 315 Main Street and at 9:30 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery. Mr. Spaulding is survived by his wife, Rose; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Spaulding of 315 Main Street, and a grandmother, Mrs. Mary Dorion of Binghamton.
