- Obituary of Daniel L. Downs
Daniel L. Downs, age 77, resident of Sandy Pond, since 1967, passed away Friday at Van Duyn Nursing Home in Syracuse. Daniel was born November 4, 1942 in Syracuse, the son of Charles and Marie Whalen Downs. He attended Syracuse Schools and served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1965. Daniel married Karyl Rougeux on July 31, 1965 and she passed away December 23, 2019. He was employed by Oberdorfer Foundry in Syracuse for 47 years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of Robert Edwards American Legion Post #357 in Pulaski.
He was a hardworking and humble family man and he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
Surviving are one son, Christopher (Margaret) Downs of Central Square, two daughters, Paula Downs (Kevin Hearn) of Auburn, Pamela Downs of Auburn, two brothers, John (Charlene) Downs and Robert (Yolanda) Downs both of Syracuse, two sisters Rose (Neil) Kingsbury and MaryAnne Glover both of Syracuse. Daniel was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Charles Downs.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, February 25th at Christ Our Light Parish, 23 Niagara Street, Pulaski, NY 13142 with spring burial with military honors in Pulaski Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the church prior to the funeral. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
