Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 30, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Deaths of Don C. Bishop and His Daughter Ella Bishop Randall - On Monday afternoon, about two hours after the friends carried the body of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Bishop Randall, from the home at the Randall Hotel, Don Carlos Bishop gave up the battle for prolonged life on this earth and went to take his place in the eternal realm. Don Carlos Bishop was born in Vermont, January 8, 1835. His parents moved to Belleville, Jefferson County, where he spent his early manhood and attended the Belleville Academy. After finishing his school, he went to Woodville where he engaged in the shoe business. He was later proprietor of a hotel and Woodville. He also conducted a hotel in Mexico. He was made a Mason in Belleville Lodge, when a young man and was one of the oldest free masons in this part of the state. He was appointed postmaster at Pulaski by President Grover Cleveland, in which office he served the public faithfully and well for over four years. After retiring from the office of postmaster he engaged in selling life insurance at which he was very successful. Mr. Bishop had a host of friends. He was always pleasant and obliging. His politics were pronouncedly democratic and in his party he was a most popular and esteemed member, as was shown by the preferment always given him. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George D. Smith, of this village and Mrs. Minor J. Terry, of Albany. Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30, at the Randall Hotel. Rev. Charles T. Holcombe, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. The officers of Pulaski Lodge F. & A.M. had charge of the services using the Masonic burial rites.
