Obituary of Emmett William Hughes
Emmett William “Bill” Hughes, 64, of Alliance, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 after a long battle with small cell lung cancer. He was born November 24, 1946 to Paul and Evelyn Hughes in Ravenna, Ohio. Emmett had a love of vintage cars and collected Elvis memorabilia. He was a big fan of horror movies and a huge practical joker- always scaring people. He loved his Chihuahua dog -” Slick”. Emmett is survived by his wife of 31 years, Evelyn of Alliance, Ohio and two sons: William Paul (Sharon) Hughes of Malvern, Ohio and Cecil Allen (Jill) Towns of Kingston, NY. Surviving also are 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers: David Hughes of Atwater, Russell (Missy) Hughes of Ravenna, sisters: Mary Hughes of Atwater and Carol Hughes of Diamond, Ohio. He is also survived by sister-in-laws: Elaine Carpenter of Alliance, Marge (Tom) Marshall of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Barbara Ann Hughes, his daughter, Urania Mae Bennett and his son-in-law, Timothy Bennett. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St. from 6:00PM until 8:00PM where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 with Pastor David Ballert officiating.
