Clifford L. West Sr., 69, of West Monroe died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Syracuse after a long illness.
A native of the town of Champion in Jefferson County, he had lived in Orwell, moving to West Monroe about 33 years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 915 of Central Square.
He was a carpenter for Bob Smith's Building Supplies in Central Square and retired about four years ago.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth V. Beshant; three sons, James West of Cleveland, N.Y., and Clifford L. West Jr. and Wendell West, both of Central Square; three daughters, Katherine Smith of West Monroe and Beverly Vincent and Renee Redhead, both of Parish; three brothers, Stanley West of Liverpool, Raymond West of Williamstown and Bertrand West of Wenachee, Wash.; three sisters, Lillian Potter and Doris Wagoner of Orwell and Genevieve Daniels of Liverpool; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Watson Funeral Home Inc., Central Square, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 206 S. Main St., Central Square.
