Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 4, 1959 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Albert J. Clifford Dies Sunday A.M. - Albert J. Clifford, 91, of Mattydale, native of the town of Redfield and former resident of Orwell, died early Sunday morning May 24, 1959 in City hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient two days. He had been in poor health for four years. The funeral was Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the Foster funeral home in Pulaski with Rev. Max Nushers, Evangelistic Calvary church minister, Mattydale, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. - Surviving Relatives - Mr. Clifford is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vernice Waggoner Clifford; one son, Nelson of Charleston, West Virginia; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. William Dempsey, Syracuse; Mrs. Kenneth Walters, Fulton, Mrs. Emma Clemens, Sandy Creek, and Mrs. William Hassler, Watertown; two brothers, Granville J. of Orwell and Grover F. of Houston, Texas. He was born in the town of Redfield, son of the late Nelson and Julia Brown Clifford. He lived at Orwell for years where he operated a garage. His first wife, Mrs. Frances Wilmot Clifford, died in May, 1932. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford had made their home in Mattydale for 15 years. Mr. Clifford was employed as a millwright at the Onondaga Pottery company.
