Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, May 30, 1995 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Olive Clement, Once of Sandy Creek, Dies - Olive Z. Clement, 85, formerly of 8196 Harwood Drive, died Sunday at Heritage Home, Utica, where she had been a resident since January. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Summerville Funeral Home with the Rev. Lorraine Zimmerman, pastor of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours were scheduled for 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where an Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 8:30 today. Donations may be made to the Care Group of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Beverly) Jones, New Hartford; three granddaughters, Suzanne Jones, Palm Beach, Florida, Christine Barton, Binghamton, and Heidi Young, Jamestown; two grandsons, Philip and Terence Jones, both of New Hartford; a great-grandson, and a twin sister, Mrs. William (Charlotte) Simmons, Fort Worth, Texas. Born October 12, 1909, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of Harvey and Nellie Schoonmaker Willson, she graduated from high school and business school in New York City. She married Durl P. Clement October 8, 1930, in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Walter B. Clement, pastor of the Taberg Methodist Episcopal Church and father of the bridegroom, officiating. After their marriage, they resided in Mineola, moving to Taberg in 1934 and Sandy Creek in 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Clement owned and operated Clement's Market from 1946 to 1959. Mrs. Clement was on the staff of the former Sandy Creek News for 14 years, retiring in 1974. Mr. Clement died February 10, 1990. Following his death, Mrs. Clement moved to New Hartford. She was a charter member of the Sandy Creek Outlook Club, a member of Lake Ontario Chapter 124, Order of the Eastern Star, and a 50 -year member of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church.
