      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 26, 1921 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Claude Clifford Killed at Charlotte - The body of Claude E. Clifford, 21, a native of Oswego County, and met a tragic death last Thursday, was brought to Pulaski Saturday and taken to the residence of a brother, Granville J. Clifford, Port Street. Funeral services were held from St. John's the Evangelist Catholic church at 11 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. Charles N. Oley officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. Clifford was a bridge tender at Charlotte for the New York Central lines. At about 10 o'clock last Thursday morning he was run down by an engine. Both legs and an arm were severed and he was otherwise injured. His death occurred a few hours following the accident. He had been employed at Charlotte about five years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Maintenance. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Clifford, live at Redfield, in the eastern section of Oswego County, where he was born May 8, 1900, and had made his home there up to about five years ago, when he entered the employ of the New York Central lines. Surviving, besides his parents, are three brothers and four sisters. They are: Grove M. Clifford of Rochester, Granville J. Clifford of Pulaski and Albert J. Clifford of Syracuse, Mrs. Frank Stinson of Lorraine, Mrs. William Clemens of Redfield, Mrs. William J. Dempsey of Oswego, a twin sister, and Miss Correan H. Clifford of Redfield.
