Thou art gone to thy, dear mother, Life battles are fought and won; Thou has’t gone from us to the loved ones Who passed away one by one. Dear mother, thou has’t gone to rest, Thou are free from earthly strife. Endow us, O God, with the virtues Which adorned dear mother's life. Dear mother, we long for thy patience, Its grace so helps to sustain; A spirit that's free from complaining Though pierced by anguish and pain. Dear mother, Thou has’t gone from our midst, The loved ones are left to weep. But we could not wish to call thee back From thy calm and peaceful sleep.
