- George L. Castor - May 10, 1850 - January 10, 1918. Son of Sherman and Esther Washburn Castor. Husband of Elizabeth J. “Lizzie” Salisbury Castor. Married November 1, 1871 in Oswego County, New York.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, January 16, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Death of George L. Castor - George L. Castor, 67, a past noble grand of Pulaski lodge, No. 648, I.O.O.F., and one of its oldest members in terms of service, died Thursday afternoon at his home on the Salina road, about a mile south of this village. Less than a week before he was stricken with a severe attack of bilious pneumonia and a severe cold contracted while engaged in shipping hay. Mr. Castor was born at Ellisburg, Jefferson county, May 10, 1850, and for a long time had been a resident of the town of Orwell, coming to Pulaski about 35 years ago. He was a cheese maker and for many years conducted the factory at Castor’s Corners, six miles south of this village, and later was engaged in farming. He was a member of Pulaski Grange, No. 730, Patrons of Husbandry. Surviving are a son and a daughter, Jay Castor and Miss Lois Castor, both of Syracuse. Funeral services were held at the afternoon [sic], Rev. F. H. Ferris officiating. The body will be taken to Orwell for burial in Evergreen cemetery. His wife died in October.
Newspaper Article - Wednesday, May 1, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Farmer District - Miss Lois Castor and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Castor of Syracuse were at Pulaski, Monday for the burial of their father, George L. Castor, who died last January. The body was taken from the receiving vault in Pulaski cemetery and interred in the family plot in Evergreen cemetery at Orwell.
