Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 31, 1917 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. George L. Castor - When death claimed Mrs. George L. Castor, last Friday morning, the earthly career of a noble woman was closed. A devoted wife and mother and the most highly esteemed neighbor was taken. Lizzie J. Salisbury was born in the town of Sandy Creek, sixty-three years ago. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Salisbury. Forty-six years ago, today, she was united in marriage with George L. Castor. They have lived many years on the farm south of this village where Mrs. Caster died. She was a member of Pulaski Grange and always a person to help and encourage all who knew her. Her death came as a relief from a long period of suffering. She leaves her husband, one son, Jay S. and a daughter, Lois, of Syracuse, also a brother, Brayton Salisbury, of this village and a sister, Mrs. E. L. Pease, of Orwell. Funeral services were held Monday forenoon, at the home. Rev. Frank H. Ferris, pastor of the Congregational church at Pulaski, officiated. Burial at Orwell in Evergreen cemetery.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 31, 1917 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Farmer District - This neighborhood was saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. G. L. Castor which occurred at 2 o'clock Friday morning. Mrs. Castor will be greatly missed in the neighborhood, being always energetic, forceful and warmhearted, ever ready and quick to aid those in distress and a leader in the Willing Workers association which flourished here for several years. This society which was organized at Mrs. Castor’s inception, to aid the needy, owed much of its success to her efficient management and besides fulfilling its original purpose served to unite the neighborhood, socially.
