Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, December 21, 1938 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Estella Stevens - Mrs. Estella Stevens, wife of Giles Stevens, passed away Saturday night, December 17, 1938, after an illness of less than three days. She was born July 3, 1870, a daughter of Warren and Lydia Horr of Mannsville. She was united in marriage with Giles Stevens March 29, 1894 and came to Orwell where she has since resided. Mrs. Stevens was a member of the Foreign and Home Missionary societies, the Willing Workers Sunday School class, Orwell Rebekah Lodge No. 236, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Oliver Kinney, of Johnson City; Mrs. Carrol Nelson of Rome, to grandchildren, Edward Trayhe, and Mrs. Harold Johnson of Johnson City, New York. The funeral was held in Orwell Union Church Tuesday afternoon, December 20, with Rev. C. T. Martin, pastor, officiating. Members of Orwell Rebekah Lodge No. 236 attended in a body. Burial was in Orwell Evergreen cemetery.
