Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 16, 1968 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Long Illness of Mrs. Allen Ends - After a long illness, Mrs. Belle Plaisted Allen, 73, wife of Glenn B. Allen, died Friday night, May 10, 1968 in the House of the Good Samaritan. She was admitted there April 17. A private funeral service was held at the Foster funeral home in Pulaski Monday afternoon. The Rev. W. Russell Clark, pastor of Asbury Methodist church, Watertown and former pastor of Park Methodist Church to which Mrs. Allen belonged, was the officiating minister. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. She was born September 23, 1894, in Sandy Creek, a daughter of Arthur and Harriet Carpenter Plaisted. She was graduated from Sandy Creek High school and Sandy Creek teachers’ training class. She taught for a year before her marriage October 6, 1915, to Glenn B. Allen at Sandy Creek. Following the marriage the couple operated a farm in Orwell. In 1920, they moved to the present farm on the Hinman road. Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Miss Lois H. Allen, at home, and Mrs. Henry (Charlotte) Vrooman, Mexico; a sister, Mrs. Philip (Grace) Coble, Sandy Creek; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
