Mayme died October 11, 1960 in Pine Meadows, Albion Township, Oswego County, New York. Mayme is buried with her parents in Boylston-Sandy Creek Wesleyan Cemetery at Lacona, New York.] [Notes: Velma Gayne was born August 3, 1891 at Lowville, Lewis County, New York, a daughter of Frank and Angeline Mehitable Hosford Gayne. Velma was first married to William Jabas on December 24, 1910 at Wilna, Jefferson County, New York; they were divorced. Velma married her second husband, Ralph F. Bee on December 27, 1916 at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland; they were divorced May 7, 1931 at Reno, Washoe County, Nevada. Velma married her third husband, Francis Harry Tewes on December 25, 1934; Francis died May 2, 1955. Earl Castor was Velma’s fourth husband. Velma died December 24, 1985 in Watertown, New York, place of her burial is unknown.]
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 8, 1970 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Earl J. Castor - Earl J. Castor, 76, chairman of the Board of Assessors for Town of Orwell the past 15 years, died Friday evening, January 2, 1970 in Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient two days. His home was on the Ricard Road, Altmar. Born August 31, 1893, in Lorraine, he was the son of Joseph and Alice Whitaker Castor and educated in the Lorraine schools. In 1919 he married Miss Mayme Beech, who died in 1960. On September 8, 1961 he married Mrs. Velma Gayne Twes [sic] in Carthage. He was a farmer and cattle dealer most of his life, his farm being on the Ricard Road for 50 years. He was Town of Orwell assessor for the past 18 years serving as its assessor board chairman the last 15 years. He also was a member of the Altmar Grange, Orwell Lodge 680, IOOF and the Ricard United Methodist Church. Besides his wife Velma, he is survived by a son, Harold C. Castor of Hastings, four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Cummins of Lacona. Services were January 5, 1970 at the Foster Funeral Home here, the Rev. Adelbert Edwards, pastor of Pine Meadows Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell in the Spring.
