Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 20, 1953 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rites Friday for Mrs. Guy Stevens - Mrs. Tressie M. Stevens, 74, widow of Guy Stevens, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Vernon Hamilton on the Parish-Amboy road, Tuesday night following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted from the Altmar Methodist Church, Friday at 2 p.m. preceded by a prayer at the sister’s home at 1 p.m., the Rev. H. S. Hill officiating. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery at Orwell. Surviving besides her sister, Mrs. Hamilton, our three other sisters, Mrs. Alfred Waggoner of Altmar, Mrs. Raymond Orton of Syracuse, Mrs. Anthony Theisen of Watertown; one brother, Emory A. Hamblin of Chestertown, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband died in 1949. Mrs. Stevens was born in Altmar, July 20, 1879, a daughter of Levi and Julia Eaton Hamblin and had spent most of her life in the vicinity of Orwell and Altmar. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught several years in the Power House district and other schools in the area. She was a member of the Altmar Methodist Church and of the New York State Teachers Association.
