Military Service: Veteran of the Civil War; Enlisted October 11, 1861, at Sandy Creek, New York, for a term of 3 years; Mustered In November 6, 1861 with service in Company B, 7th New York Cavalry, with rank of Sergeant; March 13, 1862 reduced to the rank of Private; Mustered Out March 31, 1862 with Company at Washington, D. C., with rank of Private. Son of Nicholas and Sally Warren Casler. Husband of Helen L. Allen Casler. Married January 13, 1868 at Pulaski, New York.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 29, 1910 Oswego Daily Palladium - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - Lorenzo Casler Dead - Pulaski, September 29 - Lorenzo Casler, a Civil War veteran of the Seventh New York Cavalry and who was stricken with paralysis about a year ago, passed away yesterday, aged about eighty-one years. Mr. Casler was a highly respected citizen. He was born in Jefferson county and when eleven years old his parents moved to Redfield, this county, and then went to Orwell. In 1863 he married Miss Helen L. Allen, by whom he is survived. Mr. Casler was a member of J. B. Butler Post, No. 111, G.A.R., and of Pulaski Lodge No. 415, F. and A.M. The funeral will be held from the family home in Park street tomorrow at 12 m., and will be conducted by the Masonic fraternity. The body will be taken to Orwell and interment made in Evergreen cemetery.
