      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 4, 1971 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Clifford to be buried in Orwell Orwell - Mrs. Vernice A. Clifford, 64, of Orwell died February 27, 1971 at the Evergreens Nursing Home, Pulaski. Mrs. Clifford was born June 3, 1906 in Orwell, daughter of Victor and Jesse Weed Waggoner. She attended Orwell school and Pulaski Academy. While residing in Orwell she was librarian at Cogswell Free Library. Active in the Orwell Union Church, she was both an organist and a Sunday School teacher. She also taught private piano lessons. On October 7, 1939 she married Albert J. Clifford and resided in Syracuse and Mattydale where she was a member of Angelica Church of Mattydale. After her husband died, she lived with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas, until she went into the nursing home. She is survived by a stepson, Nelson J, Clifford of Charleston, West Virginia; two granddaughters, a sister, Mrs. Zachary (Genevieve) Brownell, and a brother, Robert E. Waggoner of Lakeland, Florida. Services were held Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Spring burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
