Military Service: Veteran of the Civil War; Enlisted September 6, 1863 at Sackets Harbor, New York; Mustered in September 22, 1863 as a Private in Company L, 20th Regiment New York Cavalry, New York Volunteers; Bounty of $75 paid for by the County; Discharged July 31, 1865. Son of Arnold and Maria Wessel Aldrich. Husband of Jennie Cook Aldrich.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 3, 1917 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Orwell - After an illness of four weeks, S. Watson Aldrich passed away, Saturday, April 28, aged 70 years. In September, 1863, he enlisted and was mustered in Company L, Twentieth New York Cavalry, where he served three years. He was a member of the G.A.R. and of Welcome Lodge No. 680, I.O.O.F. Mr. Aldrich is survived by his wife, two sons, William and Frank, one daughter, Mrs. Mollie Dennie, and several grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. H. Stokes and Rev. T. T. Davies in the home Tuesday afternoon and burial made in Evergreen Cemetery. The Odd Fellows attended in a body and conducted the committal service at the grave.
Newspaper Article - Thursday, May 10, 1917 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Orwell - The funeral service of S. Watson Aldrich, aged 72 years was conducted in his late home by Rev. S. H. Stokes and Rev. T. T. Davies Tuesday afternoon, May 1 and burial made in Evergreen Cemetery. In the notice of his death last week the name of his oldest son, Merton Aldrich, of Detroit, Michigan, was inadvertently omitted.
