- Leon Ralph Carpenter - February 11, 1901 - July 1, 1990. Son of Ralph and Lydia Samantha Paddock Carpenter. Husband of “unknown first wife” (marriage date unknown; divorced) & Charlotte Myra Edick Carpenter (married April 4, 1938 at Petersburg, Virginia.) [Note: On the marriage license with Charlotte, Leon reported that he had been married one time before and was divorced. No other information has been found regarding that first marriage.]
Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, July 8, 1990 Syracuse Herald-Journal - Syracuse, New York - Leon R. Carpenter, 89, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sunday, July 1, in Coral Palms West Nursing Home in Coral Springs, Florida after a long illness. A native of Orwell, he had lived in Fayetteville for many years before moving to Coral Springs. Mr. Carpenter was the owner of the Chrysler dealership in Fayetteville from 1940 to 1966. His wife, Charlotte, died in March. Surviving are a brother James of Texas, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Orwell Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
