Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, June 15, 1932 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Former Orwell Supervisor Dies - Charles Henry Barker, son of the late Albert S. and Nancy Jones Barker passed away at his home in Orwell, Saturday afternoon, June 11, following an illness of about four weeks. He was born in the town of Albion, June 21, 1871. When he was about four years of age his parents moved to Orwell, where he has since resided. His education was received in Orwell and Pulaski schools. Mr. Barker was united in marriage July 3, 1895 with Miss Viola Washburn, daughter of the late John and Ann Beadle Washburn. To this union were born two daughters, Dorothy Barker Anderson of Watertown and Amelia Barker Hilton of Orwell, who survive their father. A few years after the death of his first wife, Mr. Barker was united in marriage January 1, 1904, with Miss Amy Hilton, daughter of Harvey S. and Ella F. Hilton. To them were born three daughters, Irene Barker Hendricks, Frances Barker Nellis, Miss Viola Barker of Orwell and five sons, Hilton, Clinton, Paul, Oscar of Orwell and Harvey Barker of Trenton, Michigan, all of whom survive him. One sister, Mrs. Robert G. Potter of Syracuse and two brothers, Albert of Orwell and Rollo D. Barker of Marathon, also survive him. Mr. Barker served as supervisor of the town of Orwell four years and for some time has been a member of the board of education of Orwell Union school. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church many years. Funeral services conducted in Orwell church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by Rev. H. H. Barnard, were attended by a large assemblage of relatives and friends. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery.
