    • Dewitt C. Himes - October 16, 1871 - October 17, 1950. Son of John Leland and Mary E. Neal Himes. Husband of Ella M. Rowe Himes (married March 6, 1896 at Sandy Creek, New York) & Charlotte May Stiles Kirkland Himes (married September 5, 1922 in St. Lawrence County, New York.) [Notes: Ella Rowe was born about 1875, a daughter of Franklin and Emma Rowe. Emma died July 19, 1908 at Orwell, New York as the result of blood poisoning due to an ulcerated tooth. Emma is buried in North Boylston Cemetery at North Boylston, Oswego County, New York.] [Notes: Charlotte Stiles was born September 24, 1871 in Russell, St. Lawrence County, New York, a daughter of Henry and Katherine Cotter Stiles. She was married to Thomas Kirkland about 1889, he died in 1918. Charlotte died February 15, 1932 at Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York and is buried with Thomas in Evergreen Cemetery at Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York.]
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, October 26, 1950 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - D. C. Himes, 79, Richland, Dies - Funeral services for Dewitt C. Himes, 79, of Richland, were conducted from the Foster Funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m., with Rev. James N. Pauley, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery at Orwell. Mr. Himes died in St. Joseph's hospital on Tuesday of last week after a short illness. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carl Hayworth of Mattydale, two sons, Glenn of Richland and Vee Himes of Long Island; three brothers, M. Burton of Glendale, California and Jay Himes of New York City. Mr. Himes was born in the Town of Scriba, October 16, 1871, a son of John and Mary Himes. He was a resident of Scriba for a number of years before moving to Richland where he had been a farmer and lumberman most of his life.
