Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 3, 1920 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Death of Mrs. Harriet J. Hilton - Mrs. Harriet J. Hilton died at her home, Park street, Friday afternoon, from pneumonia. She had been ill for several weeks. Mrs. Hilton's maiden name was Harriet Shepard. She was born at Altmar (Sand Bank) July 23, 1857. She was united in marriage with Mr. Fred Hilton, many years ago. Mr. Hilton lived in Orwell and there they begin their married life. Fifteen years ago they moved to Pulaski. Mr. Hilton died two years ago. Surviving are a son, Lester H. Hilton, of Boston, Massachusetts, assistant auditor of the Boston & Albany Railroad; a stepson, Merwin B. Hilton, an attorney of Memphis, Tennessee, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Elmer Wilson, of Pulaski; a sister, Mrs. Hobart Hilton, of Orwell. Her son, Lester arrived before she died, but too late for him to speak to her. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Monday afternoon, at two o'clock. Rev. E. A. Rogers, of Syracuse, former pastor of the Baptist church of which Mrs. Hilton was a member, assisted by the pastor of that church, Rev. W. S. Warren. Mrs. W. D. Pond and Miss Isabelle Rickard sang two selections. The body was placed in Pulaski mortuary vault at Pulaski cemetery chapel.
