Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, July 21, 1926 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Edson Hilton Takes His Life - Yesterday morning Edson P. Hilton, living two miles east of Pulaski, on the Richland road, arose early, went to his garage, took a rope and placed it about his neck then attached it high enough to make his body hang above the floor and dropped from a standing place. His wife went to the garage to see why he was absent so long and found him dead. She quickly loosened the noose and then went to a neighboring farmhouse and called Dr. F. W. Crocker, who immediately motored to the Hilton barn. An examination of the body indicated that Mr. Hilton had been dead some time. Dr. Leroy F. Hollis of Lacona, health officer of Sandy Creek came, examined the body, took the statements of Mrs. Hilton and others and declared the death was due to suicide and signed the death certificate accordingly. The body was removed to the undertaking rooms of Paul K. Foster and prepared for burial. Later it was removed to the family home. Mr. Hilton was a well-known farmer and had passed practically all his life near here, where he has been engaged in farming. He was born September 10, 1876, in the town of Orwell, where he had lived many years. Besides his widow, Mrs. Nora Hilton, he is survived by three sons, Earl Hilton of Rochester; Harold Hilton of Ilion and Lester Hilton of Geneva; one daughter, Mrs. Erma Cole, of Harrisville; his father, Hiram Hilton, of Pulaski; and three brothers, William Hilton and Arthur Hilton of Pulaski and Burton Hilton of Lacona. Rev. Ernest H. Scott, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Pulaski, will officiate at the funeral, which will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, at the family home.
