Newspaper Obituary - Monday, June 24, 2002 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Richard W. Hilton, 83, of 31 Hilton Road, died Sunday at his home. Born September 28, 1918, in Orwell, son of Arthur and Verna Joyner Hilton, he attended Sandy Creek schools. He had lived in Pulaski for the past 62 years. He married Ethel Mae Syfert on October 4, 1938. In 1941, the couple purchased the Bass family farm in the Hinman district in Pulaski, where they operated a Holstein dairy farm for 40 years. Mrs. Hilton died November 18, 2000. Mr. Hilton was a deputy employed by the Oswego County Sheriff's Department from 1964 to 1977. He also ran an upholstering shop for many years. He was a member and master of Pulaski Grange 730 and past deputy of the New York State Grange. Surviving are a son, James R., Altmar; a daughter, Judith Clemens, Marshall, Missouri; a sister, Emma Teachout, Pulaski, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lorenzo and Hugh, and a sister, Lillian Rossman, died before him. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorothy Emblidge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
