- Horace C. Hilton - March 14, 1856 - August 8, 1916. Son of Peter and Catherine Clark Hilton. Husband of Estella “Stella” Buchanan Hilton & Sylvia Ames Hilton. [Note: Estella Buchanan died August 18, 1881; she is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery at Sandy Creek, New York.] [Notes: Sylvia Ames was born October 4, 1861 in Richland Township, Oswego County, New York, a daughter of Daughter of Morris and Abbie Milthorp Ames. Sylvia died November 23, 1929 in Pulaski, New York, and is buried there in the Pulaski Village Cemetery.]
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 10, 1916 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Horace Hilton - Horace Hilton, a lifelong resident of the towns of Orwell and Sandy Creek, died at the home of Albert W. Eaton, on Box street, Pulaski, Tuesday at 3 p.m., where he had been taken for an operation. During the past two weeks Mr. Hilton suffered from blood poisoning which developed in an ulcerated tooth. He was 62 years of age, and was born in the town of Orwell where he resided till fifteen years ago when he removed to the western part of the town of Sandy Creek, where he has since lived on the Andrew S. Werner farm. He was a son of Peter and Catherine Hilton, who were pioneer residents of the town of Orwell, settling in the Chateaugay neighborhood. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Stella Buchanan, of this marriage one son, Louis Hilton of Syracuse survives. He was later married to Sylvia Ames of Richland, who together with one daughter, Abbie, wife of O. F. Hicks of Liverpool and sons, Henry of Syracuse, Rex, Royce and Linne at home, mourn the death of husband and father. Also by three brothers, Harvey H. of Orwell; Hiram H. of Pulaski and Henry of Utica. Two sisters, Harriet and Mary, wife of A. W. Conant, passed away some years ago. The funeral will be held at the Easton home, Box street, Pulaski, Thursday at 1 o'clock p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell.
