Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 1, 1948 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - L. H. Finster, 79, Dies from Stroke - Louis H. Finster, 79, died Friday night at his home in the North street road, Maltby corners, following a stroke which he suffered Thursday evening. He had been in failing health for some time, but had been about his usual chores up until late Thursday evening. Funeral services were conducted from the late home, Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. James N. Pauley of the Methodist church. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. Mr. Finster is survived by a son, H. Dey Finster, a granddaughter, Mrs. Juanita Whalen and a great- granddaughter, Sandra Whalen, all of Pulaski. He was born in Orwell, May 10, 1869, the son of Frances Beadle and Henry H. Finster. His early life was spent in Orwell, where he was married July, 1887, to Sarah Stevens, daughter of Edward Stevens, Orwell. Mrs. Finster died five years ago, June 9, 1943. For a number of years, Mr. Finster was employed at the Woodbury Chair factory in Orwell, until the time of an explosion of the boiler in that factory, which destroyed the equipment and building. The business was then moved to Phoenix and he moved his family and their continuing to work for Woodbury. Later he went to Buffalo and managed a hotel for Frank Woodbury, for a short time after which he and his family settled in Detroit, Michigan. For about ten years Mr. Finster was a superintendent in the Ford plant in Detroit. In October 1923 the Finster's moved to Pulaski at the present site of their late home, where he has conducted a poultry business with his son, Dey. Mr. Finster was a member of the Pulaski Methodist church, the Pulaski grange, and a Past Grand of Pulaski Lodge No. 648, I.O.O.F.
