Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 16, 1970 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Clarence W. Hilton dies July 8 - Mary Clyde Hilton, wife of Clarence W. Hilton of the Towers Apartments, James Street, Syracuse, died July 8, 1970 in Syracuse Memorial hospital. She is survived by her husband, Clarence W. Hilton; a sister, Miss Beulah Clyde; two brothers, James E. and William Clyde, all of Syracuse. She and her husband have sponsored many students who have and are attending Syracuse University through the Clarence W. and Mary Clyde Hilton scholarship program. She was a charter member of the Corinthian Foundation. - Born in Pulaski - Born in Pulaski, she was the daughter of Samuel J. and Mina Wood Clyde. She attended school in Pulaski and in December 1913 was married to Clarence W. Hilton of Orwell. The Hiltons lived in Pulaski and then moved to Syracuse, where Mr. Hilton was in the construction business. He built the Hilton Hotel and Mrs. Hilton assisted him in its operation. Mrs. Hilton's funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Welter Funeral Home in the Eastwood section of Syracuse. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
