Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, September 8, 1981 Palladium-Times - Oswego, New York - Mabel N. Hilton - Orwell - Mrs. Mabel Hilton, 85, a former teacher in Oswego County, died early Monday at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown. Born February 24, 1896, at the Amboy, she was the daughter of Charles and Ella Brown Nicholls. She graduated from Camden High School and Pulaski Teachers Training Class and Oswego Normal School. She married Ward Hilton, September 7, 1921. He was a farmer and a retired rural mail carrier who died March 20, 1964. She taught school in Williamstown and Amboy and later in the Sandy Creek Central School System, retiring from there in 1964. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Orwell Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are a son, Charles L.F. Hilton, Orwell; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, Rev. Warren D. Babcock officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
