Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 4, 1929 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Hobart Hilton - Hobart Hilton died very suddenly of a heart attack Sunday morning as he and his wife were at breakfast in their home about two miles east of Orwell village. Mr. Hilton was born on the Hilton homestead, where he resided, July 12, 1857. As a young man he assisted his father about the farm and also learned to make cheese in the factory owned by him. Later he taught school in the home district. July 12, 1881, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Sheppard, of Orwell. This was a double wedding, two brothers marrying two sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton lived a short time at Orwell and then went to Ipswich, South Dakota, where Mr. Hilton took over a sheep ranch. The most of his life was spent near Ipswich and Aberdeen and there he taught school a great deal, his sheep ranching allowing him to teach in fall terms. Mr. Hilton is survived by his wife, Rosalie; two daughters, and two sons, Mrs. Lloyd Archibee, Orwell; Mrs. Ada Davies, Berkeley, California; Whiting Hilton, Orwell, and Charles E. Hilton, Syracuse. A sister, Mrs. John M. Stowell, of Orwell, also survives.
