Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 30, 1953 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. C. Hilton, 69, Dies of Stroke - Harriett P. Hilton, 69, wife of Claude R. Hilton, died at the North Park Nursing Home Wednesday 7:15 p.m. where she had been a patient only a few hours. She had been seriously ill with a heart ailment for the past three weeks and was confined to the Oswego Hospital 10 days before returning to her home less than a week ago. Funeral services will be held from the Taylor Funeral Home Saturday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. James N. Pauley, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery at Orwell. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience Friday. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Mathews of Fulton; one sister, Mrs. Esther Dunbar of Oswego, an aunt, Mrs. Florence Crow of North Street, Pulaski; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hilton was born in Orwell, September 18, 1884, the daughter of Ward B. and Adella Bonner Platt. She was married to Raymond Hilton August 1, 1908, and lived at Wantaugh, Long Island [sic] for about 12 years where her husband taught school. They returned to Orwell where he died in 1932. She married Claude Hilton November 21, 1933, and spent most of her life in Orwell and Pulaski. She was a compositor at the Pulaski Democrat for 20 years, retiring three years ago because of ill health. She had lived at her late home in Bridge Street about one year.
