Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, July 17, 2004 Watertown Daily Times Watertown, New York - Arnold E. Armstrong, Worked for Niagara Mohawk - Arnold E. Armstrong, 84, Altmar, died Thursday at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego. Mr. Armstrong was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Russell Tryon American Legion Post 1435 and a former member of Defiance Fire Department. Born March 5, 1920, in Orwell, son of David and Ruth Finster Armstrong, he graduated from Sandy Creek High School and served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He had resided at Altmar since 1946. His wife, Vera A. Barnard, died November 6, 1990. Surviving are a son, David A., Altmar; a daughter, Merilee A. Heath, Lynchburg, Virginia; a sister, Barbara Stowell, Lacona, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Carole E. Dana, died November 24. A grandson died in 1980. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
