      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 7, 1953 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Funeral Today For Neil Himes, Local Merchant - Neil J. Himes, 49, manager of the local Atlantic service station, died very suddenly at his home in North Jefferson Street, Monday evening at 5:15 p.m. while at his evening meal. He had been in ill health for several months but had been back to work until last Friday when he retired to his home for rest. Services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 3 p.m. from the Taylor Funeral Home in North Jefferson Street with the Rev. James N. Pauley, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Evergreen cemetery at Orwell. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie A. Himes; his mother, Mrs. Lillian Hammond of Syracuse; his father, Burton Himes of Syracuse; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Neva) Scott of Kenmore; and a brother, Morton Himes, of Buffalo. Mr. Himes was born in Orwell May 19, 1904, a son of Burton and Lillian Carpenter Himes and spent his early life in that vicinity. He attended Pulaski school and was employed at Solvay Process in Syracuse for several years before coming to Pulaski. For the past nine years he has managed the Atlantic service station in the village. He was a member of the local Odd Fellows Lodge. His marriage to Mrs. Himes took place in Buffalo August 16, 1927. - Most stores in the village will be closed from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. today (Thursday) for the funeral of Mr. Himes.
