Married August 12, 1954 in Orwell Township, Oswego County, New York. [Note: Although her name appears on a stone in this cemetery with her parents, Gladys is buried with her husband in Sunnyside Cemetery in Great Bend, Jefferson County, New York.] [Notes: John Pennock was born July 25, 1908 in Champion Township, Jefferson County, New York, a son of John and Mabel I. Kellar Pennock. John died June 27, 1998 in Watertown, New York, and is buried in Sunnyside Cemetery.]
Newspaper Obituary - Monday, December 22, 1997 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Gladys Pennock Retired Farmer - Gladys M. Pennock, 80, formerly of 23899 Pennock Road, died Sunday afternoon at Genesis HealthCare, Watertown, where she had been a resident for several years. Born March 25, 1917, in Orwell, a daughter of L. D. and Mary Kausbob Pennock, she attended Castor Corners School and graduated in 1934 as valedictorian of Sandy Creek Central High School. She worked for the former Blount Lumber, Lacona, for 19 years. She married John E. Pennock on August 21, 1954 [sic], in Orwell, at her home, with the Rev. Calvin Moon officiating. The couple owned and operated the family farm on Pennock Road all of their married life. Mrs. Pennock was a member of Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Post 343 of Black River, and the United Methodist Church Women's Group. She was also a Sunday school teacher for several years. Surviving besides her husband, also of Genesis Health Care, are two sons, John P., Katy, Texas, and Gary A., Carthage; a daughter, Ellen M. Woodworth, Great Bend; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Roy Pennock, died before her. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bruce W. Chapman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Carthage. Donations may be made to the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Heifer Project International.
