Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, September 5, 2000 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Alice L. Babcock, Redfield Resident - Alice L. Monteith Babcock, 77, of 7 School Street, died Monday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. Born October 27, 1922, in Orwell, she was a daughter of James E. and Ruth Roser Monteith. She married Hildreth M. Babcock on May 9, 1938, in Ogdensburg. Mr. Babcock died June 14, 1980. Mrs. Babcock was a member of Redfield Wesleyan Church. Surviving are five daughters, Bertha Babcock and Barbara Darling, both of Redfield, Carol Britton, Williamstown, Alice Shaw, Pulaski, and Elizabeth Stevenson, Mexico; three sons, Eugene, Allan and Steven, all of Redfield; three sisters, Gertrude Smith, Maple View, Beverly Newton, Taberg, and Janice Wood, Orwell; four brothers, Robert Monteith, Parish, Roy and Edward Monteith, both of Redfield, and John D., Pulaski; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Redfield Fire Department, 4870 County Route 17, Redfield, New York 13437.
