Newspaper Obituary - Saturday Evening, February 27, 1954 Daily Sentinel - Rome, New York - C. E. Nelson, 54, Succumbs - Carroll E. Nelson, 52, of 213 McRae Street, died yesterday in Utica Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Nelson was born January 15, 1902, in Orwell, New York, son of Lillian Milkins Nelson and the late Dr. George Nelson. He married Evelyn Stevens of Orwell on June 30, 1923, in Sandy Creek. A Rome resident since 1925, Mr. Nelson was employed by Revere's Rome Manufacturing Company Division and had been an electric welder in the Steel Tube Mill of the company since 1929. A member of the Union Church of Orwell, he also was a member of the Fish and Game Club of Atwell, New York. He was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. Surviving are his wife, his mother; one brother, Bruce Nelson, Rome; one niece, Mrs. S. N. Nickle, Pacific Grove, California; one nephew, David Nelson, a Schenectady. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at his home and at the Orwell Union Church at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
