Notes - John Spaulding was born in about 1633 and died in 1721 at the age of 88 years in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
John was the son of Edward Spalding and Edwards's first wife Margaret. John married Hannah Hale on 18 May 1658 at Concord, Massachusetts, by Major Simeon Willard. Hannah died on 14 August 1689.
John came to Chelmsford, with his father in about 1654. He was made a freeman on 11 March 1689-90. In Hull's Journal of the War's expenses 1675 and 6, John Spalding is mentioned as a Soldier under Captain Manning, in the war known as "King Philip's War."
John Spalding later married Mary Stowe or Stow in Chelmsford. The "Massachusetts Town Marriage Records" indicates that John Spauldyng married Widow Mary Fletcher. Mary's parents were Thomas Stow and Mary Griggs.
Mary Stow Fletcher was born on 6 February 1643 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. She first married John Cotton. Her second husband was Samuel Fletcher (1632-1697) the son of Robert and Lydia Fletcher.
