The funeral for Richard J. Fargo, 60, of 7180 County Route 178, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. William Palmer, pastor of Henderson United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ellisburg Cemetery.
Mr. Fargo died Monday morning at his home. Dr. Joven G. Kuan, deputy medical examiner, ruled the death a suicide.
Born Dec. 15, 1938, in Henderson, son of Richard John and Erma E. Green Fargo, he was a 1956 graduate of Henderson Central School and served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1958.
He married Ann L. Barney on July 11, 1959, in Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. That year, the couple settled in Henderson, where he owned and operated a dairy farm until retiring in 1989.
He became a school bus driver in 1972 for Henderson Central School and was still employed at Belleville Henderson Central School, Belleville, at the time of his death.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Nelson, Mannsville, Vicki M. Sharratt, Destin, Fla., Mrs. Kurt (Valarie) Gehrke, Ellisburg, and Veronica M. Smith, Watertown; three sons, Jeffrey, Henderson, Jack, Ellisburg, and Joseph, Adams; four sisters, Joanne Cartier, Central Square, Mrs. Charles (Jane) Fernandes, Adams, Mary Beardsley, South Carolina, and Mrs. John (Dale) Brett, Sodus; three brothers, Raymond R., Sandy Creek, Louis E., Rochester, and Ronald J., Henderson; nine grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Gloria Gracey and Gale Fargo, died before him.
