Robert G. Karle Sr., 78, of 8 Niagara St., died Saturday at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.
Mr. Karle was a New York state trooper from 1948 to 1961 and was employed by Royal Insurance in Syracuse from 1961 to 1983. He had lived in Pulaski since 1956.
Born May 2, 1927, in Syracuse, son of Robert and Etta Samsel Karle, he graduated from North High School, Syracuse, in 1944 and served in the Navy during World War II.
He married Barbara Howard on Oct. 15, 1955.
He was a former commander and member of Pulaski American Legion Post 358 and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289, Masonic Lodge and Shrine.
Surviving besides his wife are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Stewart, Marie and William Koehler, Marilyn and Jim Quackenbush, Donna Strauss and Kathleen Booth, all of Pulaski; a son and his wife, Robert Jr. and Denise, Pulaski; a sister, Barbara A. Karle, Syracuse; three brothers, George, Liverpool, Richard, Phoenix, and Frederick, Syracuse, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Susan C. Karle, died in 1963.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Pulaski American Legion Post 358.
