Betty Arline Kling Allport Whittaker

LAKELAND, Fl. - Betty Arline Kling Allport Whittaker, 89, passed away on July 10th 2016, and was received in heaven by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Betty was born on November 8th, 1926, to Carl & Evelyn Kling in Pulaski. New York, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Pulaski Academy/Central School in 1944, State University of NY at Oswego, where she earned BS/MS degrees in Education and IIT in Chicago, Ill. for MS in Sociology.
She won a government grant to travel to India in 1968 and an NSF grant in 1971/72 and a sabbatical leave to pursue her trip. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an Education Honor Society and Pi Gamma Mu, a Social Sciences Honor Society. She was a much loved and respected high school teacher at Sandy Creek, NY Schools for 20 Years.
She was a long time member of Victory Assembly of God Church, in Lakeland.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a much loved younger brother, (Walter). She is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) and daughter Victoria (Vicki), & husband Rikard (Rik) Lykling, a son Michael (Joanne) Allport and son, David (Diana) Allport. She had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Betty was also a wonderful stepmother to five in Upstate New York. Bob’s daughter Cindy (James) Cough, and sons, Paul (Yolanda (Loni), William (Daun) and Michael Whittaker and Timothy (Suzanne) Powers. Also 9 more grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at The Estates at Carpenters, Lakeland, on Aug. 6, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Estates at Carpenters, Good Samaritan Fund, or to Victory Church Care Team.
