A memorial service for Michelle A. Lance, 41, Altmar, and her son, Dale H. "DJ" Lance Jr., 19, and his sons, Dontae J. Lance, 20 months, and Dayton J.V. Lance, 4 months, all of Richland, will be at 4 p.m. today at Sandy Creek United Methodist Church Social Hall with the Rev. Linda P. Taber officiating.
They were among eight people who died in a house fire Sunday in Richland. Also killed in the fire were Mr. Lance's girlfriend, Robin Dillenbeck, 26, the mother of Dontae and Dayton; her other two sons, Joseph A. Dillenbeck, 10, and Riley Pottenburgh, 6, and Mrs. Lance's boyfriend, David Muir, 33.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
Mrs. Lance was born Feb. 24, 1967, in Oswego, daughter of Weldon O. Sr. and Beulah Trumble Yerdon. She attended school in Altmar and lived in the Altmar and Richland areas.
Surviving besides her mother, of Mexico, are her husband, Dale H. Lance Sr., Pulaski; two daughters, Jessica Yerdon, Mexico, and Tiffany Babcock, Altmar; a son, Jason Lance, Westdale; three sisters, Jane Sgroi, Parish, and Renea Tilkins and Kelly Scozzari, both of Mexico; a brother, Weldon Yerdon II, Gillette, Wyo., six grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A daughter, Bobbie Jean Lance, died in 1988. Two brothers, Robert W. "Bobby" Sr. and Travis Yerdon, also died before her.
Dale H. Lance Jr. was born Aug. 9, 1989, in Oswego. He attended Sandy Creek Central School and had lived in Sandy Creek and Richland.
Surviving besides his father, two sisters, brother and maternal grandmother are another sister, Brandy Metzler, Watertown; his paternal grandmother, Maureen Lance, Watertown, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dontae was born May 10, 2007, and Dayton was born Aug. 17, both in Oswego.
Surviving besides their paternal grandfather and maternal and paternal great-grandmothers are their maternal grandparents, Audrey Spink, Ocala, Fla., and Timothy Dillenbeck, Fort Plain, and several aunts and uncles.
