The funeral for Leland A. McNitt, 68, Benton Road, a retired construction worker, will be at 8:30 this evening at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Very Rev. Cecil Wagstaff, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Adams, officiating. Burial plans are incomplete.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Mannsville Manor Rescue Squad.
Mr. McNitt was pronounced dead Thursday evening in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; two sons, Richard L., Sandy Creek, and Ronald G., Mannsville; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Caird, Pierrepont Manor; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Staudt, Chittenango; 10 grandchildren, and two brothers, Elmer, Adams Center, and Rex, Boylston. A granddaughter, Robin, died several years ago.

Services for Leland A. McNitt, 68, of Benton Road, who died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Bellville.
Calling hours will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born in Oswego County, Mr. McNitt retired in 1982 from Tobin Construction Co. in Syracuse. He had also worked with the town of Ellisburg Highway Department.
Mr. McNitt was the former chief of the Mansville Manor Fire Department. He was also a member of the Mansville Manor Rescue Squad and the Redfield Fish and Game Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; two sons, Richard L. of Sandy Creek and Ronald G. of Mansville; a daughter, Margaret Caird of Pierrepont Manor; two brothers, Elmer of Adams Center and Rex of Boyleston; and 10 grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the Mansville Manor Rescue Squad.
