      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 2, 1990 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Doris Taplin, 87, Formerly of Richland, Dies - Doris Taplin, 87, formerly of Richland, died Sunday in Vintage Faire Nursing Home, Modesto, California. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Janet Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Surviving are four sons, Wyon A. Jr., Richland, James E., Newark, California, Francis G., Lacona, and Vardon D., South Byron; four daughters, Wyona Ballon, Sun Valley, Nevada, Marietta Whaley, Modesto, Lovania Johnson, Williamstown, and Varda Teska, Pulaski; 25 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Born in New Haven August 4, 1902, daughter of Deforest and DeEtta Hyde Wheeler, she attended New Haven schools and married Wyon Taplin April 23, 1919. Mr. Taplin died June 6, 1969, at the age of 73. Mrs. Taplin moved to Newark, California, in 1976. She later moved to Modesto to live with her daughter.
