    • George Lewis Sperling - June 12, 1867 - February 16, 1933. Son of Abner W. and Angeline Jacobson Sperling. Husband of Sarah Antoinette “Nettie” Dale Sperling. Married June 5, 1893 in Orwell Township, Oswego County, New York.
      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 22, 1933 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - George Lewis Sperling - George Lewis Sperling passed away February 16, 1933 after an illness of about two years. He was the eldest son of Abner W. and Angeline Jacobson Sperling, born to them on June 12, 1867. On the death of his mother in 1870 he had a younger brother, Willis went to live with his paternal grandmother in Howardville. When eight years of age he went to live in the family of Elijah Smith in the same town living there until he was twenty-one years old. The next few years were spent in the towns of Albion and Orwell. In 1893 he married Sarah Antoinette Dale, the daughter of W. H. Dale of Orwell. The next two or three years were spent in Syracuse where he worked in the Smith Typewriter Works. About 1896 he and his family removed to the Dale farm in Orwell, where he lived until the death of his wife ten years ago, January 21, 1923. During the years from 1896 to 1923 he was a farmer of great industry. He also made bicycles many of which are in use today and which equal to workmanship the very finest of today. For a short time he also conducted a Patrons of Industry store in the farm home. Many sorrows came to him during the years. The first great one being the death of his daughter, Myrtis in July 1918 when she was killed by lightning while helping him in the Hayfield. The second great one was the sudden death of his wife, who died while seated in the living room of her home reading a newspaper. These shocks left their deep impress on his life and hastened his death. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Chester A. Wheeler of Webster, Massachusetts, with whom he lived after his wife's death; also two half-sisters, Mrs. V. P. Simon and Miss Kittie Sperling of East Syracuse, New York. Funeral services were held in Orwell Union church February 19 with Rev. T. T. Davies officiating.
