ROBERT M. SPINK, 76, DIES

Robert M. Spink, 76, of 7686 North St., retired director of the Oswego County Department of Weights and Measures, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Carol Fortin, in Mexico.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Oswego County Hospice, c/o Pulaski Court House, Pulaski, N.Y. 13142.
Besides his daughter, Mrs. Fortin, he is survived by another daughter, Nancy Garnsey, Port Leyden; two sisters, Irene Spink, Pulaski, and Bessie Bingham, Winter Haven, Fla., and six grandsons.
He was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Pulaski, a son of Melzar and Clara Gurley Spink. He was a 1935 graduate of Pulaski Academy. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 as a chief instructor at the Central School Flexible Gunnery, in Laudo, Texas.
He married Kathleen M. Betts June 26, 1945, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Syracuse. She died Nov. 21, 1979.
Mr. Spink was manager of the meat department of the Pulaski Super Duper Market from 1960 to 1976. He was also director of the Oswego County Department of Weights and Measures for 10 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski Masonic Lodge 313, Pulaski Robert Edwards Post 358 of the American Legion, and the state Weights and Measures Association.Class of 1935 PACS
