    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 29, 1873 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - At Port Ontario, May 22d, of dropsy, Mrs. Maria Hemens, aged 58 years. Mrs. Hemens was born in England, and removed to America with her parents when about eighteen years of age. The family settled first in Skaneateles, Onondaga County, but soon after came to Port Ontario, where she spent the remainder of her life. She lived to rear a very interesting family of seven sons and two daughters, by all of whom she was greatly respected. Her surviving husband and children mourn their loss, but they mourn not as those without hope.
