Military Service: Enlisted August 27, 1864, for a term of one year; Bounty of $300 paid for by Orwell Township; $600 bounty paid for by Oswego County; Mustered in September 3, 1864 as a Private in Company E, 189th New York Infantry Volunteers; Discharged May 30, 1865. Son of Samuel and Polly Jane “Jane” Kilburn Stowell. Husband of Frances M. Damon Stowell. [Note: For more information on Frances Damon Stowell, please find her in this cemetery listed as “Frances M. Newspaper Article - Wednesday, June 11, 1902 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Orwell - The funeral of Mr. Edwin Stowell was held at his late residence, last Thursday. Mr. Stowell was a man highly respected; a veteran of the Civil War. He was a kind, honorable man and will be very much missed. He was seventy-six years of age. A wife and four children survive him.
